Learning Library Highlights: Top 5 FAQ videos

January 14, 20264 min read

Welcome to the January 2026 edition of the Learning Library newsletter!

This month is a quick newsletter – I’ve been in planning mode for a big 2026 and many of my collaborators have been taking a break, so haven’t produced lots of new content. BUT I do have a special gift available for a few more days!

New additions

From me you can access:

SPECIAL GIFT UNTIL JANUARY 18TH ONLY!

Webinar – How to hit your billable KPI target: Last month I gave you the ‘in-a-nutshell’ summary, but for a few more days, you can access the full webinar for free via the Learning Library. This webinar is usually only available to YOTT Connector members, so jump in now and watch while you can! We go through 10 considerations that will help you reflect on that could be contributing to the problem if you’re someone who struggles with reaching billable KPI targets (or if you’re supervising someone who does). Sometimes it’s guilt about charging, clunky systems, or a lack of understanding about the importance of the target; understanding the ‘why’ will help you choose a strategy that works.

If it’s already after the 18th of January 2026 when you’re reading this, you can still catch the ‘in-a-nutshell’ version in the library, or the full webinar by becoming a Your OT Tutor Connector member here: https://yott.au/yottconnector

From my collaborators:

I’ve got a few new collabs already booked in for 2026, so keep opening this newsletter to keep up-to-date with when they are available.

There will be resources on mobile commodes, OT role in Matrescence and more.

If you’re an educator with your own resource, keep scrolling to find out how you can become a contributor too!

Focus topic: Top 5 FAQs

There is a lot of content available in the Learning Library. This month we’re shining the spotlight on my top 5 videos that answer a FAQ. You can find videos that answer these questions:

  • Is a hospital job or community job better for a new grad OT? The answer isn’t the same for everyone. I’ll share my thoughts based on experiences supervising students and new grads in both settings.

  • What do I do if someone makes a complaint? There are things to do in the moment and things you can do when you have time to breathe, seek other opinions and plan your response.

  • What can I say when I don’t know the answer to my client’s question? There are different ways to approach these situations; some are better than others. The key is to make sure you leave your client with confidence that you will give them the correct answer, even if it means you have to get back to them.

  • How do you do an OT hospital initial assessment? The key is to go back to the purpose and the OT role in a hospital setting, and that is centred around efficient discharge planning. This video covers the key questions to ask in an initial assessment so you can do that.

  • 3 FAQs about the WHODAS 2.0 – This video gives extra value as I answer 3 common FAQs about the WHODAS 2.0 in one video, including which rating scale to use (0-4 or 1-5), whether complex or simple scoring is better, and what to do with scoring ‘Life Activities’ when the person isn’t working.

Would you like to add your own resource to the Library one day?

All you need to do is fill in the EOI and tell me about your resource, and I’ll send you the T&Cs. The key point is you need to have a resource (video, webinar, download) that you would be happy for people to freely access via the Library, and in return you’ll get your own little marketing landing page and a plug in my socials and newsletters (including this one!). PLUS this cool badge to add to your website or socials.

Super keen but haven’t signed up to the Learning Library yet?

Do it today! All you need to do is add your name and email address via this link, then check your inbox or junk mail for the login details. If you’ve got an extra couple of minutes, you can even setup the free mobile app straight away.

I’m doing this because there are so many great OTs and other health professional out there with fantastic resources and education services, and the OT and allied health world just don’t know they exist. Spend less time searching for answers and reinventing the wheel, and more time working with your clients!

If you found this newsletter helpful, there’s so much more you can get from Your OT Tutor! Here are four ways I can help you become a better OT who loves what you do with professional development that is simple, practical and worth it!
