Welcome to the June edition of the Learning Library newsletter!

This month we have a couple of great new resources to help you stay organised and give your business branding a makeover. Plus, we are continuing our focus from last month, shining the spotlight on even more amazing guest contributors who have generously shared their expertise with the community. Sign up to the Learning Library to access everything for free!

New additions

From me you can access: Template – Caseload Tracker

Do you struggle to keep track of your clients, capacity, or handover details? This customisable caseload tracker template provides a snapshot overview of where your clients are at. It is designed to help decrease your cognitive load, make unexpected leave handovers a breeze, and serve as a useful tool for communicating with your supervisor.

From my collaborators: Download – A Practical Guide to Allied Health Branding

Is your business branding in need of a makeover? Created by Jasmine Bow from JB Graphic Design (who also has a background in OT studies!), this guide provides practical insights on logos, colour psychology, and brand consistency to help you build trust, credibility, and attract the right clients to your practice. Jasmine offers a range of services for allied health clinicians and beyond, so connect with her today or visit her website to find out more!

Focus topic: Guest contributors

There is a lot of content available in the Learning Library, so the second half of the newsletter is always dedicated to highlighting some of the content you may have missed. The spotlight this month continues to be on my guest contributors; a big thank you to everyone who has shared their expertise and resources with my Learning Library subscribers! Make sure you check out these fantastic contributions:

  • Handling Patients with Preconceived Ideas: Communication specialist Annette Tonkin provides a practical guide on using reflective listening and motivational interviewing to navigate challenging conversations when patients arrive with strong preconceived ideas about their condition. This resource will help you validate concerns, maintain rapport, and confidently guide discussions toward evidence-based care.

  • Communicating with People Living with Dementia: Kate Lamont and Kathy Kirby from Thrive Aged Care Consultants share a must-watch webinar exploring sensory brain changes, responsive behaviours, and practical communication strategies for dementia care. The session also covers crucial updates regarding communication in the upcoming Strengthened Aged Care Standards.

  • Understanding Neuroplasticity Handout: The team behind Elevate Neuro Rehab have shared an accessible PDF handout designed to help clients understand neuroplasticity and learned non-use. This tool is perfect for using in conversation with clients on their rehab journey to empower them to take a more active and engaged role in their own recovery.

  • Sensory Processing and Anxiety Guide: Created by the experienced team at Kids Matters Occupational Therapy, this free guide helps parents and caregivers understand the complex relationship between sensory processing challenges and anxiety in children. It provides foundational knowledge on the eight senses and offers practical strategies to support emotional regulation at home, school, and in the community.

  • Executive Function Milestones & Visual Supports: Early Childhood Educator Jess Shahbazi and Speech Therapist Jennifer Winnstone have created a fantastic resource mapping executive function milestones across early childhood. You can also find out more about how visual supports, like those in their MyComms platform, can build routines, reduce overwhelm, and foster greater independence for clients.

Would you like to add your own resource to the Library one day?

All you need to do is fill in the EOI and tell me about your resource, and I’ll send you the T&Cs. The key point is you need to have a resource (video, webinar, download) that you would be happy for people to freely access via the Library, and in return you’ll get your own little marketing landing page and a plug in my socials and newsletters (including this one!).

Super keen but haven’t signed up to the Learning Library yet?

Do it today! All you need to do is add your name and email address via this link, then check your inbox or junk mail for the login details. If you’ve got an extra couple of minutes, you can even setup the free mobile app straight away.

I’m doing this because there are so many great OTs and other health professional out there with fantastic resources and education services, and the OT and allied health world just don’t know they exist.Spend less time searching for answers and reinventing the wheel, and more time working with your clients!
