From me you can access another collaboration: Webinar – Everything you need to know when starting your OT career

In this webinar I teamed up with OT Dave Jereb from MoveAbout Therapy Services to provide what’s become an annual event for us! Following on from this year’s earlier webinar on what you need to know 6-month into your new grad role, we did a rewind and went back to choosing the new grad role. We cover how to find the job that’s right for you, when you should listen to advice (or not), how to interview the employer, and much more.

But that’s not it – there was another collaborative webinar (August was busy!): Webinar – Bathroom access solutions with Showerbuddy

In this webinar, trainer Linda Vella introduces Showerbuddy's vast range of bathroom access solutions, designed to support safe and dignified showering and toileting, for a wide range of mobility needs. We cover the BathCheck App, designed as a measuring tool to assist in overcoming bathroom access challenges, and run through the options available with Showerbuddy's accessories, to reconfigure the shower chairs to support individual needs.

This guest contribution is from the fantastic Dr Ruth Vo from Career Cliniq. REFLECT is a seven-step method for finding the soft skills you built in placements, part-time work and life, and turning them into language you can use in applications and interviews. It includes exercises and templates at each step, so you finish with material you can use!

And there’s another! Download – Top 5 Mindset Traps Keeping Health Professionals Stuck

This time Ruth has something for the experienced clinicians who feel ready for a next career step but keep stalling. This guide names the five mindset traps that hold capable practitioners stuck. Each trap comes with a reframe and a short exercise.

Focus topic: Guest contributors

There is a lot of content available in the Learning Library, so the second half of the newsletter is always dedicated to highlighting some of the content you may have missed. The spotlight this month wraps up my focus on guest contributions (for now – I’m sure we’ll have more to highlight for you in another focus topic soon!); a big thank you to everyone who has shared their expertise and resources with my Learning Library subscribers! In this group the focus is on staff support and the marketing/tech side of being an OT business owner. Make sure you check out these fantastic contributions:

• Webinar – Pathways to success for hiring, supporting and retaining early career OTs: In this webinar I was joined by OTs Angie Contreras and Nicole de la Perrelle to bust some myths and share what support businesses should be offering early career OTs!

• Risk management in the community: The team at Bridge to Best shared a helpful flowchart with a checklist of considerations for staying safe in the community.

• Allied health branding: Jasmine Bow generously shares an easy-to-use guide on the key principles of allied health branding.

• Website strategies: This short video from OT turned web designer Claire Anderson introduces the Clarity, Credibility and Conversion framework for successful website design.

All you need to do is fill in the EOI and tell me about your resource, and I’ll send you the T&Cs. The key point is you need to have a resource (video, webinar, download) that you would be happy for people to freely access via the Library, and in return you’ll get your own little marketing landing page and a plug in my socials and newsletters (including this one!).
