Well, it happened! Only 3 months in and the Your OT Tutor Learning Library has cracked over 1000 members, and the numbers keep growing! To make sure you get the most out of your free membership, these newsletters will keep you up-to-date with new additions and also feature a spotlight on a particular topic.
This edition’s spotlight topic is finding and providing good OT jobs – if you’re thinking about looking for a new job or hiring a new employee, these resources will help!
This month there’s another guest contributor and some more freebies from me.
From me you can access:
- Video: The Modified Barthel Index – What OTs need to know – this is a short video that summarises the key points from a recent Your OT Tutor Connector session (a CPD membership for OT students). Find out what the MBI is, who it should be used with, and why OTs use it, then join a YOTT CPD membership to see the full webinar and more like this!
- Download: Executive Summary Example – for long NDIS reports – if you’re looking for ways to make your long NDIS reports more palatable for an NDIA planner to read, you need to add an executive summary! You’ll find two different examples that you are welcome to use for inspiration for your own executive summary!
My guest contributor this month is….
Alyce Svensk – The OT Coach Australia
Alyce has generously contributed her Early Career Clinical Resource to the library. Alyce is a highly experienced OT with a track record of providing education to OTs, business owners and more! This resource includes tools for observation, reflection, self-evaluation, timetabling and more! Download it for free in the Learning Library!
If you found this resource helpful and want to learn even more from Alyce, there is lots on offer, from podcasts to on-demand recordings and bespoke training for your team. Here’s where you can find out more: https://www.theotcoach.au/
Don’t know if it’s just me, but my LinkedIn feed has been flooded with new job announcements and job opportunities. So, to go along with the theme, here are three webinar recordings you can access straight away in the Learning Library to help you plan well and nail your decision.
- Choosing the RIGHT OT job for me – you know me, I like a good framework! So when you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the job offers out there, a step-by-step approach may be just what you need. In this webinar I’ll introduce my free workbook that will prompt you to reflect on what you liked about previous roles, and what you are hoping for in the future. Then I also share my tips for how to find jobs and interview the interviewer!
- Everything you need to know about starting your OT career – this was a collaborative project I completed with the wonderful Dave Jereb from MoveAbout Therapy Services. When you’re a new grad, everything seems tough! But sometimes tough is normal. In this webinar we unpack some key information you will need to know to survive and thrive in your first OT job!
- Pathways to success: Hiring, supporting and retaining early career OTs – Yep, you guessed it – it’s another collaboration! This time I joined forces with OTs Nicole de la Perrelle and Angie Contreras OT, CHM Assessor, BMOT to unpack some myths about what it takes to support an early career OT, so they thrive in their role and want to stay. We give away way too many secrets for a freebie, but we want this to be available to all managers hiring new grad OTs. The sustainability and future of our workforce depends on providing good quality support and this webinar tells you what that looks like!
If these resources are helpful and you’d like to learn more, check out the online courses, supervision and team training available through Your OT Tutor.
Would you like to add your own resource to the Library one day?
Limited spots are available each month, but I’m still keen to hear from you and add you to the list! All you need to do is fill in the EOI and tell me about your resource, and I’ll send you the T&Cs. The key point is you need to have a resource (video, webinar, download) that you would be happy for people to freely access via the Library, and in return you’ll get your own little marketing landing page and a plug in my socials and newsletters (including this one!). PLUS this cool badge to add to your website or socials.
Find out more here or send me a DM.
Super keen but haven’t signed up to the Learning Library yet?
Do it today! All you need to do is add your name and email address via this link, then check your inbox or junk mail for the login details. If you’ve got an extra couple of minutes, you can even setup the free mobile app straight away.
I’m doing this because there are so many great OTs and other health professional out there with fantastic resources and education services, and the OT and allied health world just don’t know they exist. Spend less time searching for answers and reinventing the wheel, and more time working with your clients!
If you found this newsletter helpful, there’s so much more you can get from Your OT Tutor! Here are four ways I can help you become a better OT who loves what you do:
1. Check out my on-demand courses
2. Book in some one-on-one or group training
3. Sign-up for one of my CPD memberships
4. Send me a DM and we can chat about how I can help!
